Audience of One is about Jesus being the king of my heart, the heartbeat of my life, the very breath in my lungs. He is my complete focus. My desire is for Him alone. In this season of life, we get so easily distracted by the pangs of the world. We tend to lose focus of who we are, who we represent, how we stand, even our Kingdom assignment and calling. Today’s social media does not help. Quite the contrary, it adds to worldly distractions, sending us on a downhill spiral while simultaneously moving us away from our first love, our sole existence.

When I was a teen, I got so caught up with my desire to feel loved and accepted, that I turned to worldly relationships and activities hoping to fill that void in my heart. I tried to fill a God-shaped hole in my heart by many things. With each attempt, I found myself further from my first Love.

One of my favorite quotes from C.S. Lewis is from the Screwtape Letters, “Indeed the safest road to hell is the gradual one- the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts”.

The enemy plays his songs of deception and lies as he attempts to fulfill his desires to keep us so preoccupied that we slowly fade into darkness and away from our “Audience of One” and His light. The defeated adversary knows his time is limited. He does not waste any opportunity or moment trying to keep us from focusing on our purpose and walking in our authority as royal sons and daughters of the Most High!
